The 4th of July is almost here! If you are hosting a backyard BBQ or heading to a neighborhood potluck, you need a dessert that is festive, refreshing, and won’t melt in the hot summer sun.

While heavy cakes and baked goods are great, by the time the fireworks start, most people just want something light and sweet. Enter the ultimate easy patriotic dessert: A Red, White, and Blue Fruit Platter served with my famous 2-Ingredient Fruit Dip.
This fluffy, creamy, dangerously addictive dip takes exactly 3 minutes to whip up. When paired with fresh summer berries arranged like the American flag, it becomes a stunning edible centerpiece that kids and adults will completely obsess over!
๐ The 2-Ingredient Secret (The “Fluff” Hack)
You don’t need to make a complicated custard or melt chocolate for this dip. The secret is combining tangy cream cheese with incredibly sweet, airy marshmallow creme!
- 1 block (8 oz)ย Cream Cheese, softened to room temperature.ย (Crucial: It MUST be room temperature, or your dip will be lumpy!).
- 1 jar (7 oz)ย Marshmallow Fluff (Marshmallow Creme).
- Optional:ย 1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract (To make it taste like a bakery cheesecake!).
The Patriotic Fruit Platter:
- 2 pintsย Fresh Strawberries (Washed, dried, and halved).
- 1 pintย Fresh Blueberries (Washed and dried).
- (You can also use raspberries, cherries, or sliced bananas for the white stripes!).
๐ฉโ๐ณ Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: The “No-Lump” Rule ๐
Before you begin, ensure your cream cheese has been sitting on the counter for at least 2 hours. If you try to mix cold cream cheese, you will get tiny white lumps in your dip that will never smooth out. Hack: If you are in a rush, microwave the unwrapped cream cheese block on a plate for 15-20 seconds until soft to the touch!
Step 2: Whip the Base
Place the softened cream cheese into a medium mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer on medium speed, beat the cream cheese for about 1 minute until it is perfectly smooth and creamy.
Step 3: Fold in the Fluff
Add the entire jar of Marshmallow Fluff (and the vanilla extract, if using) to the bowl. Beat again on medium speed for 1-2 minutes until the dip is light, airy, and completely combined.
Step 4: Build the American Flag Platter ๐
Transfer your beautiful, fluffy fruit dip into a small serving bowl.
- Place the bowl of dip in theย top left cornerย of a large rectangular wooden cutting board or serving tray.
- Fill the space around the bowl in that top left corner with your fresh blueberries (These are the “Stars” of the flag!).
- Create the “Stripes” by making alternating horizontal rows of halved red strawberries and white treats (you can use yogurt-covered pretzels, mini marshmallows, or sliced bananas!).
Step 5: Chill and Serve
Cover the bowl of dip with plastic wrap and chill it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows it to firm up slightly and taste refreshing and cold!
๐ก Make-Ahead Tips for Independence Day:
This is the perfect make-ahead recipe! You can whip up the fruit dip up to 3 days in advance and store it in an airtight container in the fridge. Wash and dry your fruit the day before, but wait to assemble the flag platter until right before your guests arrive so the fruit stays crisp and beautiful!
