The 4th of July is exactly one week away! If you are hosting a backyard BBQ or heading to a neighborhood pool party to watch the fireworks, you are probably trying to figure out what to bring.

While Independence Day is famous for heavy potato salads, burgers, and brightly frosted cakes loaded with artificial red and blue food coloring, finding healthy fourth of july food can be a challenge.
Enter the ultimate summer solution: Red, White, and Blue Fruit Skewers.
These patriotic fruit kabobs are hydrating, naturally sweet, incredibly aesthetic, and require absolutely zero oven time. They are the perfect “grab-and-go” 4th of july dessert ideas for kids running around the yard. Plus, making them is so easy that your kids can assemble them for you!

π©βπ³ Step-by-Step Instructions (The “Star” Hack!)
Step 1: The Watermelon Star Hack β
This is the secret to making these skewers look like a professional catering display!
Slice your seedless watermelon into thick, 1-inch rounds. Take a small, metal star-shaped cookie cutter and press it into the watermelon flesh to cut out perfect red stars. (Don’t throw away the scraps! Save them in a container to blend into a refreshing watermelon juice later!).
Step 2: Wash and Dry (Crucial!) π
Wash your berries thoroughly, but make sure you pat them completely dry with a paper towel. If the berries are wet, the moisture will melt the marshmallows and make your skewers look slimy and messy!
Step 3: The Assembly Line
Set up an assembly line on your kitchen counter with bowls of your red, white, and blue ingredients.
Thread the ingredients onto the bamboo skewers, alternating colors to create a pattern. For example: Blueberry, Marshmallow, Strawberry, Blackberry, Marshmallow…
Step 4: The Crowning Glory
Finish every single skewer by placing one of your perfect Watermelon Stars at the very top!
Step 5: The Yogurt Dip (Optional)
Want to take these to the next level? Serve them on a platter with a bowl of “Fruit Dip” in the center! Simply whisk 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt with 2 tablespoons of honey and a splash of vanilla extract. Itβs the perfect healthy dipping sauce!
π§ Make-Ahead Tips for Independence Day:
You can assemble these fruit skewers the night before your 4th of July party! Store them in a large, airtight Tupperware container in the fridge. To keep the marshmallows from getting hard, place a slightly damp paper towel over the top of the skewers before putting the lid on.
